Friday Five, #29

1. Finally, after a couple of weeks of my work laptop freezing up or getting the “blue screen of death” and then dying or arriving at a meeting and failing to communicate with the projector, I got a new one yesterday. I’m so happy with it, I’m going to give it a name and knit it a sweater.

2. As of today, I work for a new supervisor. Same job, same desk, same team…we were just absorbed into another section and thus, the new supervisor. It is just one of those things that happens frequently in our company. There’s a saying here in Illinois (well, not just here, I would assume) that says, “If you don’t like the weather, give it a day and it’ll change again.” Same goes in our company with re-orgs. “If you don’t like where you’re working, give it a day…”

3. Every time I order anything online, I save the box it came in. I’m not a person to save anything, but for some reason, good sturdy boxes are exempt from that. I keep hoping that any day now I’ll be called away and get to move to some wonderful new locale and then I’ll be very happy that, for the time being, I’m drowning in cardboard. Of course, just writing that, I realized that I’m approaching this all wrong. If I would get rid of the boxes, a moving opportunity would present itself immediately. Hmm.

4. Someone asked me this week if I miss anything since becoming a vegetarian last year. I really don’t, although dining out in the Midwest is definitely easier if you’re a carnivore. On second thought, there are days when a good chicken taco would be nice. But not nice enough to ruin the chicken’s day.

5. What is it about Donald Sutherland? He intrigues me.
