Awww, shucks

I know some of you are thinking I must give XUP money for her to be so nice to me.   And to that, I say, “Yeah, so what’s it to you?” Actually, that isn’t the case, we just happen to be co-founders and members of our own mutual admiration society…but thank you for thinking so highly of me.

This morning I learned that she has bestowed upon me another blogging award. This one warms my heart. It speaks to my inner wild child. I love it like ice cream. Yes, I am now officially a Kick Ass Blogger. Can you hear the applause? The crowd is on its feet. The noise is deafening. My heart is pounding. … Oops, sorry, I got lost in the moment. I’m back now.

From the Kick Ass Blogger Club Headquarters, I learned that this defines a KAB:

Do you know any bloggers that kick ass?

Maybe they’ve got incredible, original content. Or they’re overflowing with creativity. Is it someone that helps you become a better blogger? Or a bloggy friend you know you can count on? Or maybe it’s someone who simply inspires you to be a better person… or someone else who sends you to the floor, laughing your ass off.

Whatever the reason may be, I’m sure you know at least a couple of bloggers that kick ass. Well… why not tell ‘em so?

I’m blushing here. Really. And a little out of my element. I am positive that the term ‘kick ass’ has never been used to describe me. Ever. But I will do my best to live up to the awesomeness.

You know I hate this part, right? How do I choose only five of all the tens of dozens of bloggers I read? Oh, the hair pulling and cursing this invokes. So I decided this time to link to five of the posts written in the last week that have really touched me (or kicked my ass, so to speak).  These bloggers deserve to be included in the Kick Ass Bloggers club!

Rachel of The Life of a Lovechild — I’ve been reading Rachel for months but I don’t know if I’ve ever commented so she probably doesn’t know me from Adam.   I love that she puts all of herself into her writing…so much so, sometimes, that I have worried about her, laughed with her, and cried for her. But this post made me smile. I am happy she has found her home.

Lara of Life: The Ongoing Education — Lara and I are recent friends and met on Twitter. This post on what a hole means to her made me want to reach through the Interwebs and give her a hug. And the Lara of nine years ago.

Neil of Citizen of the Month — Another person I met through Twitter. Neil is…well, Neil is. He is the type of person who, if I knew him in real life, I would probably alternate between kicking his ass (ooh, how apropos!) and hugging the stuffing out of him. Maybe simultaneously. Despite his attempts to bed all the mommy bloggers and his moments of self-doubt, he is a gifted writer. This post about his mother made me warm up to him even more.

Issa of Issa’s Crazy World — Issa dropped out of blogging for over a year but decided that she missed the community and the support it can bring. Thankfully, she came back to us last month. Knowing a little about the rough road she’s had and the holes she has fought to drag herself out of, the post she wrote yesterday made me realize how much she means and how far she’s come. I hope she knows that her blogging friends will always be here for her, no matter where she might be.

Mrs. Chicken of Chicken and Cheese — Mrs. Chicken has just recently given birth to a son, who was welcomed home by her lovely daughter. This post made the tears flow down my cheeks. It is perfectly poignant and strangely familiar, being the older daughter and wondering sometimes if I’m still seen.
