It’s not you, it’s me

When you have something interesting or exciting or hilarious to share with people, having a blog is the greatest thing in the world. It gives you one more medium to express yourself and receive feedback. You get that interaction with other people that most of us appreciate. For many of us, just the art of putting words together adds another dimension of joy to the experience.

Then there are days when you just want to retreat into yourself, not talk to anyone, protect yourself from anything outside that might try to get in. And having a blog on a day like that is like having a weight pressing down on your shoulders. You sway somewhere between guilt for not updating regularly and anger for feeling like you should. You know nobody is demanding you write, this is a self-imposed mandate, but you feel obligated just the same.

Guess which day today is.

Dude. You could blog once every 16 months and I would read faithfully and happily. No pressure is worse than the pressure we put on ourselves. And I am also someone who retreats into myself rather regularly so I TOTALLY GET IT. (It’s one of the tools in the arsenals of thin-skinned, sensitive and tender girls everywhere.)
    XOXO
