Twitter ate my blog post

I have three posts and one new page in various stages of publishing readiness (where readiness means they need to be completely re-written) and I’m struggling with all of them. At this point, I don’t even know if they’ll make it. Do you ever have a great idea and yet can’t put the words together to communicate it? That is pretty much my life lately.

Twitter may be killing my blogging mojo. (And here, you’re asking yourself, What mojo? Is she kidding?) (And here is where I’m kicking you in the shins.)

Those 140-character tweets are so easy. You just spout off whatever you’re doing or thinking or (most often) watching on TV and you’re done. If someone responds, great. If not, well, there’s always the next tweet. No pressure; no long, drawn out process. Easy.

Blogging is harder. (Or, I’m making it harder. Tomato, tomahto.) I have to think of an idea (preferably one that I haven’t already talked about on Twitter. See this post’s title above.), flesh it out, string all kinds of words together (exhausting!), edit it, run it through the mental check of whether or not it will mortify my family if they ever happen across my blog…and hit Publish. See? So. Many. Steps.

Tonight, I am going to spend all my time writing a real blog post. Yes, indeed. I WILL come up with something to say if it takes all night. You will be overcome by the awesomeness and skillz I display. It is going to be a thing of beauty.

I’ll keep you all updated as to how it’s going on Twitter.
